Character Info

◎ Character's Name: Jaune Arc
◎ Character's Canon: RWBY
◎ Character's Age: 17
◎ Canon Point: Directly after end of Vol. 2
◎ Background/History: Wiki
◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? None in particular.

◎ Personality:
Fake it 'til you make it, that's probably one way to sum up Jaune's nature. Unlike most of the gifted students at the privileged Beacon Academy, Jaune hasn't had any real combat training prior and he lied about his credentials to be accepted. The reason for that was because all his life he was obsessed with being a hero, like his relatives and ancestors before him. He looks up to those legends, and it's his dream to carry on that legacy, despite knowing that he's not nearly as gifted as the rest of his family. The fact that he never even tried going to a prestigious academy before Beacon, that he never tried earning his own position, says a lot about his confidence or lack thereof. However, he's still a dreamer, and with the support of his new friends at Beacon, his confidence in himself is improving as well as his combat skills. He was even appointed the leader of his own team, and it was something he legitimately earned on his own for once in his life, despite not feeling like he deserved it at the time.

Even the way Jaune would approach everyone initially, especially with girls, his bravado is turned up to eleven and he would come across as too cocky. If he romantically likes a girl, in the case of Weiss Schnee, he employs elaborate schemes and pick-up lines rather than speaking from his heart. You can thank his father's advice for that, although it's likely that Jaune just misinterpreted what his father meant by saying "girls like guys with confidence". In reality, Jaune is a generally a kindhearted person who's often misunderstood. When he finally accepted that Weiss just isn't into him, realizing how he was wrapped up in his own feelings instead of someone else's, he encouraged Neptune (the person who Weiss actually likes) to go and talk to her. He even offered him helpful advice on how to approach her, employing lessons that he himself had learned far too late. In that moment, Jaune set aside his own feelings and proved that all he ever wanted was for Weiss to know how great she is, even if he can't be the one to do that.

Although he's aware of his status as the lovable idiot, and he often rolls with the punches and jabs at him, he actually really dislikes that aspect about himself. It isn't purely about pride either, he hates the fact that he's so inept and would find himself sidelined while his friends risk their lives fighting the real battle. He doesn't want to weigh anybody down and compromise their missions, that's why he's driven to improve his swordplay and become the leader that Team JNPR deserves, and he's slowly achieving this dream thanks to his partner Pyrrha.

While Jaune is good-natured and generally gets along with everyone, the one person to have the most influence on him since coming to Beacon is Pyrrha Nikos. During the Beacon Academy Initiation, where students are forced to work in pairs, Pyrrha intentionally seeks him out despite his lack of abilities at the time, and they've been best of friends ever since then. Everything that he is today is thanks to her help, as she is the one who trains him in combat, as well as the one who unlocked his "Aura" when they met -- it's important to note these things to understand why he trusts her so much. Another example of their close bond can be seen in their body language, the way they are both comfortable with physical contact, such as standing in close proximity, or a hand on the shoulder, or Jaune pulling her closer when they're dancing (even going for the dip!). In battle, their styles compliment each other and there is little need for verbal communication, all one has to say is the other person's name and they know exactly what the plan is.

Despite their unique bond, however, Jaune was completely unaware of her romantic feelings towards him. It was only after he moved on from Weiss and Pyrrha confessed that Jaune's the kind of guy she wanted to go to the Beacon Dance with, that he has started seeing her in a somewhat different light. However, they still remain friends.

Battle-wise, Jaune would purely focus on offense and disregard any defensive tactics, despite being equipped with a shield. Because of his brash approach to it, his moves tend to become predictable, especially when he's fighting against another person (instead of a creature). Although he finds himself on the losing end of it more often than not, he's incredibly resilient when it counts and is driven to see the battle through, especially if it involves protecting someone else. However he's slowly learning to employ a balance between both stances, and his current canon point has proven that he can hold a battle on his own, although he still lacks that fearless confidence that his other team members possess. What Jaune does have going for him, and to everyone's surprise, is a strangely natural ability to lead and tactically coordinate team efforts when he needs to.

At the end of the day, Jaune is a goofy, but focused young man, who grows stronger and wiser each day. Even if it's two steps forward and one step back! There's nothing he won't do for his friends, even if it's to his own detriment sometimes, and perhaps it's those qualities that made Beacon Academy appoint him as the leader of Team JNPR.

Or maybe, just maybe, someone lost a bet somewhere.

◎ Powers/Abilities:
Aura: He has the ability to heal himself or block incoming attacks with his Aura (which according to Pyrrha, he has a lot of), but it's not an ability he can use consciously and it only seems to activate randomly or by instinct.

Strength: Jaune has a well-toned upper body with plenty of muscle to show for it. What he lacks in speed, he makes up for in strength, with the power to block attacks from large creatures with his shield, or decapitating a monster with a single blow of his blade.

Leadership: Being the leader of JNPR, Jaune takes his role with plenty of responsibility, putting his own team's concerns ahead of his own. When in battle, Jaune shows remarkable leadership skills, quickly grasping the tactical situation, forming a plan and coordinating its implementation.

Dancing: He's good.

◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
Weapon: Crocea Mors (taken from Wiki page, omitted irrelevant references)
The sword itself is a simple long sword with a blue handle and a golden cross-guard. Jaune can transform the sheath into a shield for combat. The shield is a white heater shield with a gold trim, and it shows Jaune's symbol colored in gold in the center. ( NOTE: Word of God states that it is not in fact Jaune's real symbol, but as far as everyone around him is concerned, that's what it is. ) Both the sword and shield are shown to be incredibly durable, despite apparently being forged several generations prior to the present time. The sword is sharp enough to decapitate an Ursa Major, while the shield is strong enough to take several direct blows from an Ursa, a Death Stalker, and Cardin Winchester's mace with no apparent damage.

Other Inventory:
- His Beacon school uniform.
- His guitar.

CEREALIA-Specific

◎ Element: Fire: Jaune is very passionate and energetic, and is a guiding light for his team... for better or worse. He's also a romantic, but ends up being burned by it.
◎ Sense: Touch. ...Look, he gets physically hurt a lot, so he'll definitely feel it the most! He also grew up with seven sisters, so I imagine physical affection such as hugging, or simple things like offering a strong hand to help someone up, those things just come natural to him.
◎ Seven Character Traits:
( + ) Loyal, selfless, playful.
( - ) Pushover, oblivious, insecure.
( +/- ) Tenacious.

◎ Third-Person Sample: I already play Ryuko ([personal profile] dishonorstudent) so I believe I am exempt from this.

◎ Is your character retaining any previous game memories? Nope.
